MY TAKE ON #TraderMoni & OSUN ELECTION: Gov. Aregbesola, and the Governorship election

I am not a career politician but I am savvy politically, at the same time I am politically informed because political science was part of the courses I registered for as an undergraduate, with this and to a reasonable extent, I am not a pushover especially as regards Osun politics because I live there and I am a son of the soil.

On the issue of the launching of #TraderMoni in Osun State, in Iwo on the 3rd of September, 2018 by the Vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo in company of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.  This scheme launched earlier in Lagos, Abia, Katsina, and AkwaIbom states respectively.  I think the reason for the outrageously about that of Osun is the timing. 

Time is very important in everyday activities that we embark upon.  Considering the alleged vote buying mess that took place in the neighbouring Ekiti state during the last governorship election in the state, there are million reasons why people should raised eyebrows to the TraderMoni scheme launching in Osun since it is very close to the election. You cannot beat a child and expect him or her not to cry.



I will not look at it the way an average politician will look at especially those on the opposing sides. As an observer, I must not see the matter affectively, rather, l will look at it cognitively.  The people behind the launching should have waited until after the election instead of doing it very close to the time of election, because other contestants would believed that if the ruling party eventually wins, it is as a result of the distributed funds.  By and large, it has become the trademark of an average Nigerian politician to latch on the pervasive poverty in the land, thereby inducing the people with money to gain their votes.

Similarly, in Nigeria, every moves taken prior to election is considered political and that is why the organizers should have tarried a bit but it is done already, my advice to all political parties contesting in Osun is that they should go back and rally their supporters for a good outing.

On Governor Aregbesola, there is no way anyone can tell me this man did not do anything, I will advise other parties contestants not to make that mistake because people are not fools, instead let the electorates knows why you are a better candidate. The question to Mr Governor is that among the major work done in Osun, how many were done by Osun resident contractor? He has been paying half salaries for certain class of the state civil servants for the past three years, even after receiving numerous bailouts, he refused to pay them fully, now that elections are weeks away, he has started paying full salaries for all workers.  What has changed? What happened to the moribund Osun airport after billions have been sunk into it?  Peradventure, his party lost the coming election, what is going to be the fate of the Ilesa water project he started at the dusk of his regime? How much is Osun owing in terms of debt? Let me stop here.

Finally, I will advise all and sundry in Osun State to go all out on September 22, 2018 to exercise their franchise by casting their ballot for the candidate of their choice. Sitting at home will not help anyone, as the four years the politicians spend in the saddle is also part of our lives. Do not allow any politicians to waste our lives because four years is not a joke!

Will People Stay At Home to avoid Covid19?

Late last week, President Muhammadu Buhari announced the easing of the lockdown which was put in place majorly in Lagos State, Ogun State and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja  This was done to curtail and bring to a halt the spreading of corona virus popularly called COVID-19. This lockdown were also in place in almost every state of the country except few. This lockdown is to ensure the flatten of the curve of the virus . In the run up to the easing of the lockdown, there were hues and cries from the citizens, most especially the vulnerable ones who makes their living on daily basis, that the longer the lockdown, the longer they face with economic crisis as many are now begging for help to eat in a day.  In the same vein, the Federal government also put in place some sort of palliatives to ease the lockdown in which money, foods and other items were distributed to the people. ‘Who presidential documentary epp?’

On Christmas Day, I stumbled on an interview given by the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina. Although it was a fairly lengthy interaction with the presenters of Sunrise Daily on Channels Television that morning, two things that the presidential spokesperson said amplify the fault with the President’s communication. Confronted with a front page report quoting the National Bureau of Statistics as estimating that eight million Nigerians had become unemployed between January 2016 and September 30, 2017, Adesina suggested that Nigerians should be grateful that the administration allowed the NBS do its job.
