Will People Stay At Home to avoid Covid19?

Image
Late last week, President Muhammadu Buhari announced the easing of the lockdown which was put in place majorly in Lagos State, Ogun State and Federal Capital Territory, Abuja  This was done to curtail and bring to a halt the spreading of corona virus popularly called COVID-19. This lockdown were also in place in almost every state of the country except few. This lockdown is to ensure the flatten of the curve of the virus . In the run up to the easing of the lockdown, there were hues and cries from the citizens, most especially the vulnerable ones who makes their living on daily basis, that the longer the lockdown, the longer they face with economic crisis as many are now begging for help to eat in a day.  In the same vein, the Federal government also put in place some sort of palliatives to ease the lockdown in which money, foods and other items were distributed to the people. But the question remains, does those palliatives reached the vulnerables who actually needed it?...

ON MY RADAR: Politics 101- How Pẹnkẹlẹmẹ́ẹ̀sì will win Ọ̀yọ́ State Governorship Election.

Image
Considering the recent realignments that has been occurring in Ọ̀yọ́ State, Adebayo Adelabu stands the better chance of emerging the next governor of pace setter state. My reasons are: (a) Kábíyèsí Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́ factor: Kábíyèsí has never hidden his love for APC, he has been campaigning openly for the party for a very long time. Besides this, his son, a prince just won his reelection into the House of Representative and with the overwhelming support the party is enjoying in the Ọ̀yọ́ kingdom, other party will be coming second, third and so on. (b) Alao Akala's factor: Hate him or love him, gomina wàsórí-wàsọrùn is loved by his people in the Ogbomọsọ axis of the state and his people followed him wherever he goes politically. This can be attested to in the just concluded #NigeriaDecides2019, Akala dictates what happens in Ogbomọsọ and if you underrate him in this regard, you are doing so at your own peril politically and that's why the national leader of @OfficialAPCNg s...

IN NIGERIA, EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT: 2019 Election In Perspective

Image
As Nigeria is inching towards her next general election come February 2019, it is no news that the country is going to witness a flood of presidential candidates which is looking like the highest numbers in the fifty eight years as an independent country and in the almost twenty years of returning to the civil rule. Of recent, a lot of Nigerians have been throwing their hat into the ring of presidency signifying their intention to become the next ruler of world largest black African country. From my own calculation and counting, the number of presidential candidates are more than 50 due to the large number of political parties as released by INEC, (this was witnessed in the just concluded governorship election in Osun State where the number of contestants was the largest in the history of governorship election in Nigeria), here are some of their names and the political party platform upon which they are vying for the position: . President Muhammadu Buhari - 1. All Progressives ...

#TraderMoni and It's Arm Chair Critics

Image
It is easy to criticize Vice Pres @ProfOsinbajo for leading the charge of the distribution of the #TraderMoni for our market women/men, this is common among the educated fellows and our so-called elites. It is easier for anyone to sit behind his or her smartphone and be politically & economically correct, but that is far from the reality on ground. How I wish some of the critics knows about LAPO, it's a borrowing or loan scheme very popular among petty traders, we call it GBỌ́MÚLÉLÁŃTÀ in Ìbàdàn due to the dangerous nature of its payments. It is so bad that many of these hardworking mama had to run away from home, the stubborn ones who wouldn't run, run the risk of being publicly disgraced and humiliated, some would even be locked up inside the toilet of the loan operator, there was a case where a toddler was taken away from the mother for defaulting for just one week! Personally, I witnessed one scenario where a friend agreed to stood in and agreed to pay for h...

REAL REASONS BEHIND OSUN STATE INCONCLUSIVE ELECTION: A Voter's Account of the Situation

Image
Being a voter in Osun State particularly in the just concluded #OsunDecides2018 , I'm wondering why many are claiming that @iam_Davido (Davido) influenced or played a big role in the outcome of #OsunDecides2018, to a larger extent: that's not correct because many of his followers are apolitical, many did not even have voter card talkless of voting. Sincerely speaking, many did not even know who Davido is, in Osun State. So in a nutshell, to the twitter and Facebook analysts who have not been in or to Osun State, Davido is not in the calculations at all.   The following are the factors that actually affect the outcome of the inconclusive election: - Workers salaries (half salaries/irregular salaries): The workers are at daggers drawn with the state government concerning their wages and this election time is their pay back time. - Snubbing of indigenous contractors for Lagos based ones: There is great enmity between the state government and the indigenous contra...

THE WEAPONIZATION OF WORKERS SALARY IN NIGERIA: Osun State as a case study in Brevity.

Image
In Nigeria, it has now become a culture or the prevailing trends among state governments or better still state governors to either tarry a while before paying their workers or blatantly refused to pay them for months.  Even those who are paying among them are doing so irregularly such that if a worker receives his or her wages this month, there is a possibility that in the next two or three months he has to pin his hope on God. This act of wickedness by these governors are being done with impunity and only few of them are concerned by the plight of their workers. Since the inception of the present regime from 2015 till date, Nigeria economy has witnessed a lot of meltdown due to the fall in the price of Nigeria only means of getting foreign exchange which is crude oil, coupled with the extravagant way of life of our rulers in which there are no plans for the future for the country in the event of the crashing of the mainstay of our economy. Nigeria is not the only country af...

MY TAKE ON #TraderMoni & OSUN ELECTION: Gov. Aregbesola, and the Governorship election

Image
I am not a career politician but I am savvy politically, at the same time I am politically informed because political science was part of the courses I registered for as an undergraduate, with this and to a reasonable extent, I am not a pushover especially as regards Osun politics because I live there and I am a son of the soil. On the issue of the launching of #TraderMoni in Osun State, in Iwo on the 3rd of September, 2018 by the Vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo in company of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.  This scheme launched earlier in Lagos, Abia, Katsina, and AkwaIbom states respectively.  I think the reason for the outrageously about that of Osun is the timing.  Time is very important in everyday activities that we embark upon.  Considering the alleged vote buying mess that took place in the neighbouring Ekiti state during the last governorship election in the state, there are million reasons why people should rai...
